I was standing at the servant's door of our house, wrapped in a towel that barely covered me from my navel to my knees. In my hands, I held a bucket of water and a sponge, ready to take a bath. My brother Abdul was inside the bathroom, and it seemed like he was taking forever. I couldn't understand what was keeping him occupied among the servants.
Just as I was getting impatient, I heard the door opening, and Abdul stepped out, asking for my help to find soap. Despite my frustration, I agreed to help him and headed to the soap maker, Mika, to get some pieces of soap.
After the ordeal of finding soap, I finally managed to take my bath and headed back to my room. I received a call on my blackberry phone from Mujahid, my friend, who reminded me to hurry up and prepare myself.
It was a special day for all Muslims around the world, the day of Eid al-Kabir, also known as the great prayer. I quickly put on loose pants and a big shirt tailored by a seamstress. I was excited and filled with happiness for this momentous occasion.
